Along Upper Heidelberg Road

Ivanhoe's main shopping strip follows Upper Heidelberg Road, and much of its character comes from the shopfronts, most of them built between about 1915 and 1940. More than a hundred businesses trade along it: cafés, boutiques, professional offices and health practitioners among them. The Ivanhoe Traders Association represents the centre, and the Ivanhoe Library & Cultural Hub at 275 Upper Heidelberg Road, a redevelopment of the heritage town hall completed in 2021, anchors the civic end of the strip.

There's a second, smaller village on Lower Heidelberg Road. Locals often call it East Ivanhoe, though it's technically in Ivanhoe East. The shops there have the same needs on a smaller scale, and we look after them just the same.

For Ivanhoe's cafés and food businesses, wages are usually the largest cost and the hardest to get right. Brian still visits when it's genuinely useful: for a first meeting at your shop, to walk through your year-end results, or when a bigger decision is on the table.
