Bookkeeping
Reliable reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and clear reporting, organised around the way your business works.
Learn more about BookkeepingRosanna Village gathers professional offices, shops and places to eat around the station on Lower Plenty Road. Brian works with the owners behind them, and with the growing number of locals who freelance or consult, on clean books, accurate tax returns and planning ahead.
Rosanna Village stretches along Lower Plenty Road, right beside Rosanna station and the library. More than seventy-five businesses trade there, and the mix leans towards professional services, with retail and dining filling in around them. The station on Turnham Avenue was rebuilt as an elevated station in 2018, when the Lower Plenty Road level crossing was removed, taking the boom gates out of the middle of the village.
Rosanna doesn't currently have an active traders' association, so owners here often find their own way to advice and support. Banyule City Council's Business Banyule team is a good first stop for free mentoring and grants, and we're glad to point you there.
The new Rosanna Library opened in early 2026 across three levels, with co-working spaces and a podcast studio built in. It says something about how many people in the area now work independently: designers, writers, IT contractors, consultants and people making their own audio or video content.
For this group the questions are rarely about stock or staff. They're about tax. Should you be paying PAYG instalments rather than waiting for a big bill? Do you need to register for GST if you only have one or two clients? What's a fair way to work out home office costs? We answer those questions in plain language, prepare and lodge your income tax return as a registered tax agent, and look after your BAS and GST once you're registered.
If your records live in a spreadsheet and a folder of PDFs, we can move you onto cloud accounting software so invoices, bank feeds and receipts sit together and tax time takes an afternoon rather than a fortnight.
Podcasters and content creators using the library's studio have a few extra wrinkles. Sponsorships, platform payouts and paid appearances generally count as business income, and products sent to you for review can have tax consequences too. Equipment such as microphones, cameras and editing software may be deductible, sometimes over several years rather than all at once. We'll help you keep the records that make those claims stand up.
Professional practices along Lower Plenty Road have different pressures. Revenue can look healthy on paper while cash is stuck in unpaid invoices and work not yet billed. Regular bookkeeping keeps receivables current, with overdue accounts followed up before they drift, so the figures you see match the money you actually have.
For principals wanting more than compliance, our business advisory service brings monthly or quarterly reporting on profit, cash and the measures that matter in your field, such as how long clients take to pay. That's the information you need before hiring another staff member, renewing a lease or bringing in a partner.
We can also sit down with you before 30 June each year. A look at the year's results while there's still time to act means fewer surprises when the return is lodged, and a clearer idea of what the next year's instalments will look like.
Rosanna is about seven kilometres from our Greensborough office, three stops up the Hurstbridge line. Brian can meet at your office in the village, at a spot near the library if you work from there, at our office on Grimshaw Street, or by video. After that, most of the work happens in your accounting software, with a regular check-in so you always know what's coming.

Learn more about Cloud Accounting SetupAs a general rule, expenses you incur in earning your business income can be claimed, such as a share of home office running costs, equipment, software subscriptions and co-working fees, provided you keep records. How much applies to you depends on your circumstances, so we work through it properly when preparing your return.
In professional firms the usual culprits are slow-paying clients, work that hasn't been billed yet and tax that wasn't set aside. We look at your debtors, how long invoices take to be paid and when your BAS and instalments fall due, then suggest practical changes to billing and collection.
Yes. We work in Xero, QuickBooks Online and MYOB, so in most cases you simply invite us into your existing file. We check the opening balances and reconciliations, flag anything that needs correcting, and carry on from there without you having to start again.
Tell us what you need and Brian will be in touch, typically within one business day. Meet at your Rosanna premises, at our Greensborough office or by phone. There's no cost and no obligation.
